Opening of the solo exhibition “The Timeline Puzzle“ by the Swiss artist-in-residence and guest of honour of the “First International Print Biennale Yerevan 2017” Marcel Mayer at the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art (ACCEA/NPAK) in Yerevan, starting on November 17th, 2017 at 7 p.m.
The Swiss master printmaker Marcel Mayer (“Druckwerk”, Basel, Switzerland) is the fourth artist of the international artist’s exchange program initiated by Foundation KulturDialog Armenien in 2016 and since then organized in cooperation with Atelier Mondial (Christoph Merian Stiftung Basel, Switzerland) and the Cultural Office of the City of Freiburg in Breisgau, Germany. Since July 2017, Marcel Mayer lives and works as artist-in-residence in Yerevan for six months. Foundation KulturDialog Armenien presents Marcel Mayer’s recent works from Basel and printed works he created during his months in Yerevan in the solo exhibition “The Timeline Puzzle” with a total of 28 printed works at the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art (ACCEA/NPAK) from November 17th to December 15th, 2017.
During his months in Yerevan, Foundation KulturDialog Armenien provides Marcel Mayer with the possibility to work in different printmaking studios in Yerevan and in different printmaking techniques. Thanks to Foundation KulturDialog Armenien, art students were given the chance to work with Marcel Mayer in two workshops in cooperation with Tumo Center for Creative Technologies and in one workshop in cooperation with the Mirzoyan Library in October and November 2017. The results of the first workshop were presented by Foundation KulturDialog Armenien at the Mirzoyan Library in Yerevan on October 29th, 2017, in the presence of the artist Marcel Mayer, the jury president of the First Internationale Print Biennale Yerevan 2017, Inga Heamägi, and president of Foundation KulturDialog Armenien, Sona Harutyunyan.
Marcel Mayer is the official guest of honour of the “First International Print Biennale Yerevan 2017“, which is organized by Foundation KulturDialog Armenien in Yerevan from October 25th until December 15th, 2017. With 227 participating artists and 447 exhibited works by printmaking artists from 50 countries, the contest exhibition of the biennale brings examples of international printmaking with its tendencies from around the world for the first time to Yerevan and its art loving audience until December 15th, 2017. By presenting Marcel Mayer’s solo exhibition “The Timeline Puzzle” in the context of the “First International Print Biennale Yerevan 2017”, Foundation KulturDialog Armenien opens a unique insight into Marcel Mayer’s recent works from Basel and thus into the current Swiss printmaking art scene but, most importantly, into his latest works created in Yerevan during his artist-in-residence stay since July 2017.
This way, Foundation KulturDialog Armenien not only presents different and various artists and techniques of the art of printmaking for the first time in Yerevan but it initiated a new international printmaking dialogue. With Marcel Mayer’s solo exhibition “The Timeline Puzzle” Foundation KulturDialog Armenien continues a special Armenian-Swiss printmaking dialogue, which has been initiated in Basel (Switzerland) in cooperation with ‘Atelier Mondial’ and the professional printing studio ‘Druckwerk’ in Basel at the beginning of 2017. Foundation KulturDialog Armenien invites the Armenian audience to attend the opening of Marcel Mayer’s solo exhibition “The Timeline Puzzle” and to meet the Swiss print master Marcel Mayer at the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art (ACCEA/NPAK) in Yerevan on November 17th, 2017 at 7 p.m.
