“To become Invisible”

Susan Amujanyan’s solo exhibition,

Through this photo series, Susan Amujanyan reflects on the devastating impact of the military operations launched by Azerbaijan in Artsakh in September 2023. In the chaos that followed, thousands of civilians went missing, and the search for them played out across social networks. But with violence and hostility present even online, many photos of the missing were removed from Armenian platforms to protect their identities, rendering them “invisible.”

Amujanyan’s work magnifies these images thousands of times, making the human figures unrecognizable and safe from harmful exposure. Her photographs capture a haunting transformation—some of the missing were found alive, others tragically confirmed dead, while many remain unaccounted for.

Accompanied by a moving sound installation that echoes the voices of media coverage from those harrowing days in Artsakh, the exhibition invites viewers to contemplate the intersection of visibility, protection, and loss.
