An exhibition by Mariam Aleksanyan

Curated empathy is a human instinct. Caring is, too. In natural selection, every creature adapts to natural conditions in order to survive and endure. Humans manifest care so that they are selected and endure.

What happens when care, love, and compassion cease to exist? Everything becomes covered in mold.

Mold is alive; it grows in place of, and by feeding on, the life force of another living creature. Perhaps, with care and compassion, mold unites the broken pieces, filling the emptiness.
