The project began in 2019, when Laura Freeth and Kevin Chrismann accidentally learned about the existence of a mower buried somewhere in the Gers region of France. From that moment, their search and investigation began, as they tried to uncover the hidden motives behind this mysterious fact.
Although the mower itself was never found, everything they discovered during this process became the starting point for a project titled Creuser—“to dig.”
What began as a single point of curiosity evolved into a long-term research: an exploration of forms and gestures, actions and actors, contexts, history, and memory.
In 2025, as part of NPAK’s Perform with the Community art residency program, Kevin, Laura, and Leo were hosted in the village of Araks, where they spent 84 days.
Through this exhibition, they recreate their experience, reflecting on agricultural work, gestures, materials, people, memories, and aspirations for the future.
