CITY FLOWER
exhibition
by Blue Pencil
This project is centered around images of ancient flowers, which will appear on Yerevan walls and at the exhibition space of NPAK. These two elements complement each other, creating a dialogue between street art and contemporary museum practices.
The artist Blue Pencil primarily works with text, yet one of his few but key visual motifs is precisely this flower. In his artistic practice, he calls it the urban flower, symbolizing unstoppable, ever-continuing life. The striking resonance between the artist and Yerevan was unexpected yet natural.
Thanks to the enduring presence of this symbol in Armenia, Blue Pencil’s urban flower has not only taken on new meaning in the city’s landscape—sprouting directly onto Yerevan’s streets—but has also gained a profound connection to history and tradition.
Blue Pencil is a street artist and urban researcher working with words and space.
The artist’s signature style features concise and witty inscriptions that comment on various events, situations, states, or places, offering a new way to interpret them.
In his statements, he blends art, socially significant themes, urbanism, and poetry.
