Shakeh was always photographing everyone, everywhere, every thing.
It was her way of seeing. As if the camera had taken the place of her eye.
That is how thousands of images came together—of everyone, every place, every thing.
This unorganized, unedited archive reflects her way of seeing more directly.
You see something, only for a few seconds, and photograph it—in motion.
Even immobile things are in motion. Through time.
Shakeh Amiryan Petrossian
Born in Iran in 1951.
Graduated from the Department of Journalism at Grigor Zohrap Private University in Yerevan.
Has been practicing photography since 1976.
Her first solo exhibition was held in Tehran in 2001.
She has since presented solo exhibitions in Tbilisi, Yerevan, Los Angeles, and again in Tehran.
