The first panorama was created by the Irish painter Robert Barker in 1787. Panoramic photography soon came to displace painting as the most common method for creating wide views. Digital photography of the late twentieth century greatly simplified the assembly process, which is now known as image stitching. The images are made by joining multiple photographs with slightly overlapping fields of view to create a panoramic image, using programs such as Adobe Photoshop. Large scale installations enhance the illusion of being surrounded by a real landscape for the observer. For three decades I have been traveling and photographing people, landscapes, architecture and nudes, authored 11 books and have presented numerous exhibitions in many parts of the world. This is my first exhibition involving panoramic images. It is called panoramix and highlights the collection of images taken in Africa, North America, the Middle East and Armenia. It is a mixture of landscapes, people, animals and architecture. The audience will see the ascent of the biblical Mount Ararat, the permanent glaciers of Mount Kilimanjaro at an elevation of 5,895 m (19,341 ft.) and the wildlife of the Serengeti plain. Also lakes and urban city landscapes such as New York and the Arches national park in the state of Utah, and an aerial view of Venice, Italy. The majority of the images also have an Armenian link. For example, the khachkars of Noratus, the Holy Cross church of Akhtamar considered the jewel of Armenian architecture, the landscapes of Zeitun and Kars and the many fortresses of Cilicia. The aim of this exhibition primarily is to share with the audience some of the magnificent travels and the photography I have enjoyed. Furthermore to make people aware of the great balance and positive coexistence which exists between nature and man and to encourage the viewer to travel and discover the beauty of our planet evident in each and every country.r dapibus leo.
