"Fragments"
If someone asks a man: “Who are you?” he would automatically answer: “I am a doctor, a type-setter, a clerk etc”. Man is an abstraction alienated from his real nature. Erich Fromm
In this painting series I have tried to free human figures from any social role, status, past and future, having left only their basic human image. The purpose of the fragmentation of the image, edited sights, blow-ups and broken contours of the computer processed photographs, is to create an intermediate situation between the figurative and abstraction, to convey uncertainty and alienation. The fragmentation carries another important meaning; it makes the viewer to appropriate the blank spaces around the image and to try to recreate an integral figure of human being, that is, to be engaged in a process of identification that runs counter to alienation.
